7 Days, 6 Nights Shira Route

The Plateau Route

7 Days, 6 Nights

The Shira Route is celebrated as one of Mount Kilimanjaro’s most dramatic western approaches, offering direct access to high-altitude wilderness and expansive volcanic landscapes. Popularly known as the Plateau Route, this trek begins on the mountain’s western slopes and ascends quickly onto the vast prehistoric Shira Plateau—exploring geological formations like the Shira Cathedral, traversing beneath the Western Breach glaciers, and negotiating the thrilling Barranco Wall before reaching Uhuru Peak.

Day 01

Moshi to Londorossi Gate to Shira 1 Camp

Following pickup from your hotel in Moshi, drive to Londorossi Park Gate to complete national park entry formalities.
